Balloon frame construction allows for extension through the roof
Shortly after 1am, calls came in for a house fire on Main St. Firefighters arrived and encountered heavy smoke and fire on floor #1 but because of balloon construction, fire quickly extended up into the cockloft and through the roof. It took about an hour to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported. All the occupants safely escaped.
Woonsocket, North Smithfield, and Millville fire departments assisted Blackstone.
