Firefighting: San Diego Boat Fire

Squad37 – San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and San Diego Harbor Police Department on scene of a boat fire.

Fire crews made an interior attack on the fire, but were unable to make access to the seat of the fire due to fire conditions on board the boat. The boat had been reported to have been docked at the location for over a month and there were no reports of anyone on board at the time of the fire. The Norton Sound is reported to be a fishing vessel.

Officials decided to let the boat burn itself out and the harbor police continued to spray the hull of the boat to keep hull from weakening/fracturing, the goal was to keep the boat from sinking. There was an unknown amount of fuel and contents on board the boat and officials did not want the boat to sink and create an environmental incident in the bay, the cause of the fire was unknown at the time this video was shot.
