A window washer was dangling from a rope near the top of Alabama’s tallest building Monday afternoon when his descender became stuck on the RSA Tower in Mobile, officials said.

Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units, including technical rescue units, were called to the tower in downtown Mobile around 12:51 p.m. Monday to perform a rescue of the window washer, the department said.

The window washer called his adviser to report his descender was stuck.

Firefighters found the worker suspended on a rope near the 35th floor of the 35-story tower, on the west side of the building.

He was part of a two-person crew that washes windows of the building, the department said.

At 745 feet, the tower is the tallest building in Alabama, according to the RSA.

Rescue technicians were able to raise the man to a roof above the 33rd floor. He then walked into the building through a window.

Paramedics evaluated the washer and found no injuries.
