A Metro Fire firefighter battling a Carmichael house fire early Tuesday was injured but the home’s lone resident escaped injury, fire officials said.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District arrived to a home in the 5500 block of Linda Lane about 2:12 a.m., said fire officials, to find the home heavily involved with fire.
The blaze, hidden behind overgrown vegetation, challenged fire crews who found what officials said were hoarding conditions inside and around the home.
Crews also contended with flames that threatened dry brush and a rail car parked next to the home. Firefighters contained the fire and stopped its spread but the home sustained major damage. A firefighter received a minor burn battling the blaze, but the home’s elderly resident left the home unhurt, officials said. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
