Firefighter Injured in New Springville, NY, House Fire

Jul. 15–STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – A firefighter was injured when the FDNY battled a blaze at a home in New Springville early on Thursday morning.

About 60 firefighters and 12 units responded to the “all-hands” fire called at 2:07 a.m. for the second floor at 32 Lewiston St. near Travis Avenue, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

A firefighter who suffered minor injuries was transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, the spokesman said.

The fire was brought under control in about a half-hour, at 2:36 a.m., the spokesman said.
