
Fire and smoke showing in Gardner

Fire District #1 of Johnson County – Fire District #1 Of Johnson County, KS was dispatched for a Building Fire in the area of E. Pinewood St. and S. Moonlight Rd. in Gardner, KS just shortly after 2:00p.m. on March 26th, 2020.
Our on-duty Battalion Chief was the first arriving unit to find a large amount of fire and smoke showing from the exterior of the fourplex building. Due to the size of the building and the amount of fire showing, a 2nd Alarm was transmitted which added additional units to the call. The fire was quickly contained by crews.
Five adults and four children were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting the families affected by the fire. One canine did perish in the fire. There are no other injuries related to this incident. The fire is still under investigation by our Fire Marshal.
