Jan. 7–BREWSTER – A fire destroyed a residential home at the end of Glenwood Road Wednesday evening.

The fire department received a call about a structure fire at 81 Glenwood Rd., said Brewster fire Chief Robert Moran. Upon arrival, the two and a half story, wood-framed house was full engulfed, he said.

Fire crews from Harwich and Dennis came to assist at the scene, and Orleans and Eastham firefighters provided station coverage, Moran said.

Multiple hand lines were used to extinguish the fire, which took about a half hour to knock down. Crews were still on scene as of 8:30 p.m. to make sure a fire didn’t reignite.

One person who was in the house when the fire broke out was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life threatening, Moran said.

No firefighters were injured, and Moran said the house was a total loss.

The fire remains under investigation by the Brewster Fire and Police departments, as well as the state Fire Marshal’s office.
