Students gain technical rescue hands-on experience operating on an actual communications tower, learning the proper techniques for climbing tower structures, RF monitoring and awareness, rescue rigging, preincident planning, and victim-packaging techniques. Training is compliant with National Fire Protection Association 1670, Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents, and NFPA 1006, Tower Rescue Awareness and Operations Level.

  • Training handouts will be given to all students as they arrive.
  • Instructors will go over basic concepts and theories.
  • We will then break into 3 groups.
  • Groups will cycle through 3 different skill stations at the base of the cell tower.
  • Students will then be briefed on basic rescue concepts and rigging.
  • Students will remain in their groups and cycle through 3 different rescue scenarios which will combine the skills and theories that have been taught during the morning sessions. Each student will have the opportunity to be a victim and a rescuer during the scenario sessions.
  • Debrief after all evolutions are cmopleted.

Our goal is to give our students as much hands on time and as much time up on the structure as possible.
