Evacuation at Oxford, MA House Fire

OXFORD (Telegram.com) – A two-alarm fire ripped through a home at 17 Old Worcester Road Wednesday afternoon.

Acting Fire Chief Paul Ford said an electric company worker happened to be driving by after 1 p.m. when he saw smoke coming from the house. The worker stopped to knock on the front door just as a backdraft blew out the front door and windows, knocking him down. As police and firefighters started to arrive, the worker went up in his bucket truck and cut power to the house, the chief said. He said the worker was later taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
