WASHINGTON (WUSA9) – Whew, that was close!

A building missed two women by just a few seconds when it collapsed just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

In the security video obtained from Andy Feliciotti, you see the two women walking on Florida Avenue and crossing Staples Street Northeast when the building begins to crumble.

Ironically, a DC Fire and EMS fire truck was passing the scene as the building was collapsing.

According to fire officials, there was a safety gate around the building due to the building undergoing renovations.

One woman who was passing by was taken to an area hospital after being hit with debris. DC Fire search teams and K-9’s arrived to the scene to ensure there were no additional victims trapped under the debris.

Fire officials said there is no damage or threat to any structures nearby.
