Firefighters escape collapse of second floor

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Charlotte firefighters had a close call as the second floor of a burning home collapsed.

FOX46 reports that the Charlotte Fire Department responded to a house fire Sunday on Redfield Drive.

Several firefighters were inside the home when the second floor collapsed.

All were able to escape safely.

The occupants were able to safely escape. There were no reported injuries.

The fire department said the two-alarm fire was due to a fire pit on the rear porch.

The fire cause approximately $250,000 worth of damage.
