Fast-moving fire involved rear porches

BOSTON, Massachusetts – Boston firefighters battled a fast-moving fire and 90-degree weather in Dorchester on Wednesday.

Boston 25 News reported that firefighters responded to the fire on Fayston Street at 11:15 a.m.

Boston Fire Commissioner Jack Dempsey said firefighters faced a fast-moving fire when they arrived and that three rear porches had collapsed.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire but not before five buildings were damaged.

Mutual aid from other fire departments covered Boston firehouses.

Approximately 50 people have been displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
