Crews withdrawn after fire extended into the roof

49North Media – Calgary Alberta, Canada – Oct 8th, 2019 – Calgary Fire Crews were called out to the Dairy Queen at 1906 Centre St. N around 5:30pm for reports of a structure fire.

Crews briefly made an interior attack but pulled out due to the aggressive nature of the fire as it moved in to the roof.
Defensive operations were in use for the rest of the call and an excavator was later called in to partially demolish the building so crews could put out hot spots.

Crews finally cleared the scene after midnight (over 6 hours after the original call).

Cause is under investigation.

All in all, 5 Engines, 3 Aerials and numerous support rigs (hazmat, Air/Light, rescues etc) were on scene along with Calgary Police and Alberta Health Services.
