Abingdon (VA) Fire Department Firefighter Taken to Hospital After Fall at House Fire

The home was deemed a total loss and the American Red Cross has been notified to assist the occupants.

An Abingdon (VA) Fire Department firefighter was taken to the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury after a fall after crews responded to a house fire in Abingdon (VA) early Sunday morning.

Around 4:41 Sunday morning, firefighters were called to the 19000 block of Spoon Gap Road after receiving reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, heavy fire was seen in the home.

The two occupants were able to escape, but three vehicles parked outside the house received significant fire damage. The home was deemed a total loss and the American Red Cross has been notified to assist the occupants.

Crews from the Abingdon Fire Department, Green Spring Fire Department, Washington County, VA Life Saving Crew, and Washington County, VA, Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
