Seven Firefighters Shocked by Power Line at Five-Alarm Jersey City (NJ) House Fire

A five-alarm fire that burned through two Jersey City, NJ, homes brought down a live power line on firefighters, injuring seven of them, reports abc7ny.com.

The fire erupted between the Irving Street homes just before 3 a.m. this morning, the report notes. As crews arrived a live power line came down on their apparatus, shocking at least four firefighters and the captain.

Seven firefighters in total were taken to Jersey City Medical Center—all with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire left 18 residents from six families homeless; the Red Cross will aid.

The cause of the fire, which started in an alley between the two homes, is under investigation.
