Off-Duty MD Firefighter Fatally Shot in Washington, D.C.

Three shootings in and around Washington, D.C., this weekend left a firefighter dead and four others hospitalized, according to a report on nbcwashington.com.

The fatal shooting happened around 11 p.m. Saturday along the 1300 block of Half Street SW near Nationals Park; two men and a woman were shot by a person driving a dark sedan, the report says. Witnesses say they heard dozens of gunshots, and some residents say they felt like they were in a war zone.

The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the other man was treated at the scene.

A couple of hours prior, a man was shot along the 900 block of K Street in Northeast after authorities say the suspect—or suspects—exited a vehicle and opened fire. The victim was taken to the hospital; his condition was not known, the report says.

Then, another man was shot around 3 a.m. Sunday along the 1400 block of Parkwood Place NW in the Petworth neighborhood. He, too, was rushed to the hospital and his condition unknown.
