One of the current debates in the fire service has to do with higher education and the best type of educational institution for a firefighter to get a degree. The two camps in this debate: those who feel that regional accreditation is best, and those who feel that there is little substantial difference between regional and national accreditation. In this interview, FireRescue’s Tim Sendelbach talks with three leaders from Columbia Southern University, a nationally accredited online-only school, about accreditation and online education. They also discuss some of the specifics of Columbia Southern’s fire science program and where the university is headed.
