A fight between city leaders in West Liberty and its fire department has lead to the fire department to threaten to disband by May 1 if a new leadership structure isn’t created.
Firefighters say they are tired of the city meddling in department business and want a new, elected body created to oversee the department. If the city doesn’t agree, it says it will stop providing services in West Liberty.
The city council, meanwhile, is weighing options.
