ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WJLA) — An accident involving a Fairfax County fire truck has knocked out power to homes in the Alexandria section of the county early Tuesday.
Fairfax County fire engine 411 and truck 411 were responding to an emergency call near Beacon Hill Road and Anthony Street at approximately 4:30 a.m. when truck 411 was involved in an accident, according to Fairfax County Fire Department Public Information Officer Capt. Bill Moreland.
The fire truck, which landed on its side, hit a utility pole, causing power outages to about 100 customers.
The four firefighters who were on board the truck were all transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Moreland said.
Officials expect repairs to take up to eight hours to complete. As of 10 a.m., Dominion had restored power to about half of those affected customers.
The road remains closed to all traffic.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
