Video: Woman Rescued in Colorado Springs Apartment Fire

A woman was rescued and taken to a hospital Saturday after a fire at a four-plex in Colorado Springs.

John Noreuil and Dawn Ray, who live next door to the second- floor apartment that was burning, said they saw black smoke and felt the heat from the flames.

Noreuil said he rushed over and beat on the door of his neighbor’s apartment, but the woman inside did not come out. She had to be taken out by firefighters, Ray and Noreuil said.

The fire, reported about 1:20 p.m., was at 17 University Drive and contained to one apartment, said Colorado Springs Fire Department Lt. Carrick Patterson. It was extinguished in about 15 minutes, he said.
