Video: Fire at Va. Hotel Causes $50K Damage

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.– Authorities are investigating a fire at a Newport News hotel that caused about $50,000 in damage.

The Newport News Fire Department says guests at the Point Plaza Hotel knocked on doors to alert other guests after the fire broke out around 10 p.m. Wednesday night on the second floor of the north wing.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.

Several rooms sustained smoke damage and the room where the fire started was condemned.

No injuries were reported.
