The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty deaths of the following Houston Fire Department personnel on May 31, 2013:
Engineer Operator Robert Bebee, 41
Captain Matthew Renaud, 35
Firefighter Robert H. Garner, 29
Probationary Firefighter Anne M. Sullivan, 24
The Houston Fire Department responded to a structure fire. While battling the blaze, the roof of the motel collapsed, trapping the firefighters in burning debris. All four firefighters perished.
