The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Firefighter Edwin J. “Lance” Wentzel, 57, of the Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department on March 22, 2014.
While participating in a search operation along railroad tracks for a missing woman, Firefighter Wentzel was struck and killed by a train. Investigation by authorities continues into the fatal incident.
