The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Fire Chief Kenneth Lehr, 59, of the Medora Community Fire Protection District on February 5, 2015.
While attempting to close off Illinois Route 111 to allow for a helicopter to land safely for a medical emergency, Chief Lehr was struck by a fire apparatus as it was backing up. Chief Lehr passed away at the scene from injuries sustained when he was struck.
