USFA: Falling Tree Kills Tennessee Firefighter

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Firefighter Christopher Michael Blakenship, 41, of the Madison County Fire Department on May 3, 2015.

While working at the scene of a motor vehicle accident with fire, Firefighter Blankenship was seriously injured when a tree at the scene fell on top of him. Firefighters quickly removed the tree from Blankenship and rendered medical aid. Blankenship was then transported to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
