OSHKOSH, WIS. (November 30, 2012) — Oshkosh Airport Products Group, a division of Oshkosh Corporation, delivered three new generation Oshkosh Striker aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) vehicles to Korea Airports Corporation (KAC), a leading airport management company located in the Republic of Korea (South Korea). The three new generation Oshkosh Striker ARFF vehicles join two Striker 3000 vehicles that were placed into service at KAC managed airports in mid 2011.
“These purchases by the leading airport management group, KAC, are a testament to the new generation Striker vehicle’s capabilities, and we are honored to have the Striker on duty at Gimpo, Gimhae, and Jeju airports,” said Jeff Resch, Oshkosh Airport Products Group vice president and general manager. “And, it is especially gratifying to have these trucks follow in the footsteps of two Striker vehicles that have been on duty at KAC managed airports now for more than a year.”
The new generation Striker features advanced safety systems and delivers innovative fire suppression technology, unmatched chassis performance, and unsurpassed reliability and durability. The 6×6 axle configuration, with Oshkosh TAK-4 all wheel independent suspension and an Oshkosh rear steering system, offers a smooth ride and excellent off-road capabilities. The 700HP, Tier 4i/Euro 5 emissions compliant turbo charged engine is mated to a 7-speed electronic automatic transmission for smooth power delivery and a top speed greater than 113 km/h (70 mph). The engine power pack components are readily accessed through walk-in doors on either side of the engine compartment for easier servicing.
