DETROIT (WDIV) – An apartment building burned Tuesday afternoon near West Outer Drive and Interstate 96 in Detroit, injuring two people and two firefighters.
The three-alarm fire started about 2 p.m. It has been downgraded to a two-alarm fire.
One firefighter was taken away on a stretcher. He was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital. Both firefighters’ conditions are not known at this time. The fire chief said a ceiling fell onto one of the firefighters. He suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns.
Two other people were injured, too. They were rushed to Sinai-Grace Hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time.
“We had a little problem as far as getting water to the fire because of access to this place. There is one way in and one way out,” said Senior Chief Jack Wiley.
Local 4 is on the scene and will update the story as more information becomes available.
