No one was injured in an early morning fire at a nightclub in North Charleston, but Ashley Phosphate Road was closed for about an hour, authorities said.
Firefighters from the North Charleston Fire Department, as well as the Ashley River Fire Department, were dispatched shortly before 6:30 a.m. to a structure fire at the Vegas the Movement Club at 3381 Ashley Phosphate Road, said Bianca Bourbeau, a spokeswoman for the North Charleston Fire Department.
First arriving firefighters reported seeing flames and smoke visible from the club, which shares a common wall with an apartment structure, Bourbeau said. Residents of the apartments were evacuated as a precaution.
The fire was brought under control within several minutes, Bourbeau said. Ashley Phosphate Road was closed for a little more than an hour. There were no reported injuries, she said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
