Recognized Company Officers to Receive Free Rapid Sim-Builder Application

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 24, 2012) . Each year, FireRescue’s Company Officer of the Year award is given to a company officer, nominated by their peers, who best demonstrates excellent leadership skills, tactical knowledge and community involvement. This year’s winner is TSgt Travis Benne, station chief with Andersen Fire and Emergency Services in Guam.

CommandSim, an industry leader in software tools for fire and emergency services training and corporate sponsor of the award, has announced that it will donate a copy of its newest rapid simulation-building application, SimsUshare Desktop (companion to its SimsUshare Mobile app), to each nominee, in recognition of their central role in promoting a culture of safety and preparedness.

“The firefighters in the field look up to the company officers as mentors and leaders, while the executive officers critically depend on them to get the job done safely,” remarked CommandSim’s Training Director, Lt. Jim Murphy (Ret.), a 32-year veteran of Orange County Fire Rescue (Winter Park, FL). “While the award can only highlight the accomplishments of a single individual, in reality, every nominee is a stand-out in his or her community. That’s why we at CommandSim want to recognize their accomplishments, and help each of them succeed in their training mission to improve their organization’s command, strategy, tactics, and communications.”

The Company Officer of the Year award will be presented at the IAFC’s 2012 Fire-Rescue International conference in Denver on Aug. 4. CommandSim representatives will be present at the award ceremony and the exhibit hall, in booth #8018.
