City officials reacting quickly after neighbors called us and we called the city about a five story building that folks around here say is an accident waiting to happen.

Neighbors called fox 29 after bricks started falling from the front facade of the five story building. Just a few feet away, there’s a church run day care center where more than 100 children go each day

Tom and Nancy Flynn have lived in the neighborhood for years, they say the building has been an eyesore for a long time. They say it’s been picked clean by scrapers and scavengers, and it’s home to drug users.

Just two weeks ago bricks fell from the building. Firefighters and police barricaded it off to protect people walking by. Within days the barricades were down. When we called police, we got results right away. Within minutes officers arrived, put up new crime scene tape and new barricades.

About 90 minutes ago an L&I inspector showed up and cited the building owner by posting that orange sign that says this building is imminently dangerous and in danger of collapse.
