Police say a 12-year-old boy and his mother died in the blaze. Neighbors say two other children jumped out of a second floor window. Those two children were taken to ECMC for observation.

Both neighbors and responders are very emotional Friday morning, as they deal with the tragic loss.

Neighbors say the children heard their mother yelling, “There’s a fire!” Then, the children jumped out of a window to the ground below.

One neighbor caught one of the children and another comforted them.

Six West Seneca fire companies responded to the call and Cheektowaga Fire assisted them.

The cause of the fire is under investigation; the Erie County fire squad will assist.
