Meth Lab Suspected as Cause of Tulsa Apartment Explosion

TULSA, Okla. (AP) – Police say an explosion at a Tulsa apartment was likely caused by a methamphetamine lab.

Police were called to the Summer Set Apartments on Sunday afternoon. Witnesses told police that a man and woman fled the apartment immediately after the explosion and that the man appeared to have burns on his arms and hands.

Police say firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and afterward, they discovered the components of a methamphetamine lab. Investigators say the explosion happened in the apartment’s bathroom and that it had such force it blew the living-room couch out a window of the apartment.

A neighbor upstairs says his furniture was lifted 3 to 5 inches off the ground.

No one has been arrested in the blast.
