Massachusetts Firefighters Have Close Call during Auto Extrication

WEST BARNSTABLE, Mass. – An early morning car accident became a close call for Massachusetts firefighters when a pole fell on their ladder truck.

The Cape Cod Times reports that West Barnstable firefighters responded to a vehicle rollover at 12:15 a.m. and found a car that had rolled over and came to rest against a tree and a utility pole with a person pinned underneath the car.

As firefighters began to work with extrication tools, the utility pole collapsed and a live wire fell on the ladder truck causing a fire.

The person pinned was eventually take by MedFlight to Massachusetts General Hospital suffering from life threatening injuries.
