Maryland Firefighter Injured During House Fire

BELTSVILLE, Md. (WUSA) – An overnight fire in Beltsville has left a house destroyed and a firefighter injured.

Officials tell 9 NEWS NOW Prince George’s County firefighters were called to a house fire on Harford Avenue near Queen Anne Avenue around 1:00 Friday morning. Crews arriving on scene found a house fully engulfed in flames, forcing them to fight the fire from the exterior only.

Officials say the house was unoccupied when the flames broke out.

Nearly 45 firefighters extinguished the fire, which destroyed the structure.

One firefighter suffered a burn to the neck while battling the blaze. He was transported to a local burn center where he was treated and released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials estimate the damage to be $150,000.
