Homes Damaged in Buffalo Three-Alarm Fire

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Just off of Hertel Ave., a three-alarm fire blazed in Buffalo Monday morning.

The fire began on Crestwood Ave. sometime around 10:30 a.m. and caused a total of $540,000 in damage to three homes.

Authorities say high winds played a factor in their fight against the fire. Crews attacked the flames from the air.

The fire was mostly extinguished by 11 a.m., but the roofs of 91 and 95 Crestwood Ave. were destroyed.

Buffalo Fire Chief Garnell Whitfield says 24 people were displaced by the fire. One firefighter was injured.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
