CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – As part of its continuing mission to keep firefighters worldwide safe and updated on the latest firefighting technology, Hale conducted two educational seminars in China in September. The training sessions highlighted the equipment and strategies used in high-rise fire fighting.
More than 30 fire chiefs from the Beijing Fire Bureau and regional fire brigades attended an educational seminar held at the Fire Bureau. Li Jin, deputy director general of the Beijing Fire Bureau, led the training with Dominic Colletti, Hale’s chief brand marketing manager. During the course of the presentation, Colletti introduced North American best practices for high-rise firefighting applications, as well as solutions currently deployed by major fire municipalities in the U.S.
Hale held a second seminar in Chongqing, a major Chinese municipality with a population of 33 million. The seminar was attended by more than 40 fire chiefs and presided over by Zhang Jianming, director general of the Chongqing Fire Bureau. High-rise firefighting strategies and pumps were the main focus, as there are more than 12,000 high-rise buildings in Chongqing. Firefighters in Chongqing have battled 400 high-rise fires in the last year. Other topics addressed included building codes and the use of a compressed air foam system (CAFS) in high-rise fire suppression.
“At Hale, we want to see every firefighter succeed and remain safe, not just in the U.S., but around the world,” said Colletti. “It’s our commitment to provide the very best equipment and training to the dedicated men and women who risk their lives to protect the rest of us.”
