Representatives from Taylor & Taylor Associates and Fireman’s Fund Insurance joined the FDNY at the Fire Academy on June 16, to present a $12,663 grant used to create a Roof Operations Training Simulator on Randalls Island.
“We appreciate Taylor & Taylor and Fireman’s Fund Insurance’s dedication to keep firefighters and the people of New York safe,” said Chief of Department Edward Kilduff.
The new simulator is a one-story building measuring 30-by-30 feet, with multiple cutting stations on the roof. At each station, firefighters will train using the roof saw to cut through panels that can be replaced after every training session. It will provide firefighters with an opportunity to train at cutting through the construction features associated with different types of buildings located in all five boroughs.
“We welcome the opportunity to make our community safer,” said Scott Taylor, President of Taylor & Taylor.
Fireman’s Fund has awarded the FDNY more than $500,000 in grants since 2006. This is the fourth grant from Taylor & Taylor, bringing their total donations to more than $134,000.
