WASHINGTON (WJLA) – The owner of the Georgetown restaurant said the place will be closed “indefinitely” for repairs after a fire broke out there Wednesday.

Firefighters knocked down the two-alarm fire at Hook, a seafood restaurant on M Street in Georgetown, Wednesday afternoon. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, the owner said in a statement. It is believed that the fire started outside of Hook in the loading dock, but there is no official account yet.
Fire officials responded to the fire at 3241 M St. just before 1 p.m. to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the building. The fire closed down M Street in Georgetown for 90 minutes.
“Unfortunately, both Hook and Tackle Box Georgetown are going to be closed for repairs indefinitely,” the owner of Hook and Tackle Box, Jonathan Umbel, said in a statement.
“The most important thing to me is that our patrons and staff are safe and no one was harmed,” Umbel, said, thanking the DC fire department for their “quick and responsive” actions.
There were no injures reported in the blaze, which was contained within about 15 minutes. Authorities say Hook sustained extensive damage, but no monetary amount of damage has been released.
The Tackle Box and Saloun, two nearby establishments, suffered water and smoke damage.
M Street reopened in time for the evening rush hour. The road between the Key Bridge and Wisconsin Avenue had been fully closed for about 90 minutes.
