CAMBRIDGE, Ontario – Former IAFC President and retired Cambridge Fire Department chief Douglas R. Pollington passed away on July 6, 2011.
Pollington joined the Hamilton Fire Department after serving in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. He rose to the rank of Director of Training and in 1974 was appointed as Fire Chief for the City of Cambridge.
Pollington was an active member of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs and served as President of the International Association of Fire Chiefs in 1983. He retired from the Cambridge Fire Department in 1984.
