A Florida firefighter was arrested after allegedly putting poison in a coworker’s canteen, police said.
Lt. Phil Jones of the Titusville Fire Department told police investigators of an odd-smelling substance in his canteen, part of equipment used to battle brush fires. It is believed to be “Gunk,” a commercial aerosol cleaner and de-greaser that can be harmful or fatal when swallowed.
Randy Moore, a paramedic and firefighter who admitted spraying the material into the canteen and to other acts against Jones, was arrested by the Titusville Police Department and was booked into the Brevard County Jail Tuesday.
Moore claimed he did not intend to kill Jones with the material in the canteen but “was upset over other issues and it went too far,” a police statement said.
Police did not specify what provoked Moore’s alleged actions, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
