Miami Dade Fire Rescue – Did you know that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S., accounting for nearly 43,000 American lives lost per year?
In an effort to bring awareness to this sensitive issue, the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue The MDFR CISM Peer and Chaplaincy Programs Bureau launched the Hope Breaks the Chains campaign focusing on awareness and prevention. As part of the campaign, a two-part video series was produced to share testimonials of those who have dealt with suicide ideation and with the aftermath of the pain left behind when one of our own makes the decision to take their life.

Our Hope Breaks the Chains campaign focuses on creating awareness and prevention so that no more lives are lost.

“The Ones Left Behind”
The second in a two-part Suicide Awareness video series, produced by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, focuses on the pain endured by “those left behind to pick up the pieces”
The ripple effect of suffering created when someone takes their own life is incalculable and impossible to measure.
These videos are dedicated to all those who have lost their lives to this epidemic, with the hope of increasing awareness and bringing light into the shadows cast by fear and the stigma of shame before the darkness of hopelessness has a chance to set in.
