STOCKHOLM – Rescue services say a fire is raging out of control at the Stockholm School of Architecture in the center of the Swedish capital.
Rescue services spokeswoman Asa Dehlin says the university was empty when the fire broke out early Wednesday and that a firefighter injured his hand while trying to extinguish the blaze.
Dehlin says the university’s assembly hall has been destroyed and there is a risk the fire could spread to other parts of the building. She says there has been no need to evacuate nearby residential buildings.
In 2008, the large concrete building designed by architect Gunnar Henriksson in the 1960’s was voted Stockholm’s ugliest building by city residents.
