GOOSE CREEK, S.C.– A fire has destroyed a building at an apartment complex in Goose Creek outside Charleston.
There was no immediate word on injuries.
Fire officials said the fire broke out about 12:30 p.m. Thursday and multiple apartments were destroyed. Smoke could be seen billowing from the fire from some distance away.
Officials were not immediately available for comment and were turning people away from the entrance to the complex, which is behind a gate.
A spokesman for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s department said he would not have any information to release until he arrived at the scene. Goose Creek is about 20 miles northwest of Charleston.
