WASHINGTON (NBCWashington.com) – The Watergate complex was the scene of lights and sirens Wednesday night as a fire broke out inside an apartment.
Emergency crews were called to the 10th floor of the Watergate East building on Virginia Avenue, just before 10 p.m.
The fire was confined to one apartment.
Several apartment residents were treated for exposure to smoke. There were also firefighters who suffered from possible heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
