Columbus House Fire Claims Two Children

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Firefighters say a 4-year-old central Ohio girl has died after suffering severe burns in a house fire that left her 2-year-old brother dead.

A spokesman for the Columbus Division of Fire says the girl died Sunday, one day after the blaze at a home near Grove City in suburban Columbus.

Battalion Chief Michael Fowler says the children’s parents also were hurt. He says the father had burns from the waist up and remained in stable but critical condition Sunday at a hospital. The mother had minor burns.

Fowler has said the fire was ruled accidental and appeared to have started near a trash can on the front porch.
