Charlotte (MI) Volunteer Firefighters Back on Duty; New Chief Sworn In

The standoff between the City of Charlotte and its 23-Member Fire Department has eased, with firefighters returning to duty under a new interim chief.

The firefighters resigned as a group two weeks ago and requested the city look into concerns about the way the department is treated and viewed. Initially, the city said the firefighters would all have to reapply to be reinstated, but waived that request.

After over two hours of discussions the city swore in Fire Chief Mark Jordan as the interim fire chief of the department and all 23 firefighters were returned to duty.
