CarbonX Ultimate and Active Baselayers Are the Optimal Last Line Of Defense Between Flame and Bare Skin

SALT LAKE CITY – With a CarbonX Ultimate or Active baselayer product next to skin, firefighters can face extreme heat and flame knowing they are equipped with the highest level of protection in the industry.

Constructed to be truly non-flammable, the Ultimate and Active baselayer product lines deliver protection far beyond competitive flame-resistant (FR) products. Competitors’ FR products typically meet “No Melt, No Drip” requirements for protective clothing, but CarbonX exceeds those standards and goes above the norm in providing a persistent thermal barrier with minimal heat conductivity.

The Ultimate baselayer fabric, at 8.0 oz/yd2, has a Thermal Protective Performance (TPP) rating of 13.0 cal/cm2 and zero seconds after flame, while the 6.0 oz/yd2 Active baselayer fabric has a TPP rating of 9.5 cal/cm2 and zero seconds after flame.

The Ultimate and Active baselayers are made from double jersey interlock knits comprised of a proprietary blend of high-performance fibers. Inherently flame resistant, they will not burn, melt, or ignite when exposed to direct flame or extreme heat. Even after intense exposure, they maintain their strength and integrity and continue to protect. The Active fiber blend also includes a hydrophilic fiber designed to absorb and wick away moisture.

Both the Ultimate and Active baselayers breathe well and dry quickly, enhancing the wearer’s comfort and productivity. They are soft-to-the-touch, flexible, and odor resistant, and their thermal protective properties will not wash out or wear away.

Ultimate and Active baselayer solutions cover firefighters from head-to-toe, including: hoods, long- and short-sleeve tops, full-length and boxer-length bottoms, removable sleeves, gloves, and socks.

About CarbonX: CarbonX partners with leading safety manufacturers and distributors worldwide to deliver customized solutions where protection from direct flame, molten metal, flammable liquids, or arc flash are non-negotiable requirements. Every day, professionals and enthusiasts who work and play in some of the world’s most hazardous environments rely on CarbonX to provide them with the protection they deserve.
