Camden Firefighters Battle Another Suspicious Abandoned Warehouse Fire

CAMDEN, N.J. (WTFX) – Authorities in Camden are investigating another fire in an abandoned industrial building.

Authorities say a two-alarm blaze broke out around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in a former Clement’s coverall factory in South Camden, located at South 6th Street and Carl Miller Boulevard . Paints and lacquers were previously made there.

The building’s roof partially collapsed. No injuries were reported.

The fire comes weeks after a string of three bigger blazes in empty industrial buildings in the city last month. One of them has been ruled arson and the other two are considered suspicious.

The cause of Tuesday’s fire is not known, but for a vacant building it burned very quickly.

The hydrants closest to this fire scene were not working because brass fittings had been stolen and apparently sold as scrap metal, Fox 29’s Steve Keeley reported.

Firefighters say they were at this site not that long ago for trash that had been lit on fire.

The first major warehouse fire in the city happened at a tire storage facility on June 9th.
