EDGEWATER, Fla. (Aug. 14, 2012) — Brunswick Commercial and Government Products (BCGP), a leading manufacturer of commercial and government watercraft, was recognized by its parent company, Brunswick Corporation, for its outstanding safety record. In honor of the award, Brunswick committed to making a $10,000 donation to a local charity chosen by BCGP employees.
BCGP’s Edgewater, Fla., facility was one of three Brunswick plants that recently received the prestigious Chairman’s Safety Award for outstanding safety performance. The employees at the Edgewater plant have had a recordable incident rate of zero for the past four years, and have worked almost a million hours without a lost time incident. The award recipients were selected by Brunswick’s senior management from scores of manufacturing facilities. BCGP employees chose to donate the $10,000 grant to Cudas UnHooked, a local organization that assists at-risk high school students.
The award was presented to employees of the BCGP facility by Dustan E. McCoy, Brunswick’s chairman and chief executive officer, during a formal ceremony on Aug. 14. Those in attendance included Brunswick executives, as well as Shawn Lane, the Chairman of Cudas UnHooked.
“This generous donation is our largest to date and will enable us to continue providing assistance to our young people ensuring they gradate from high school and continue moving towards a life of success,” said Lane.
“Our daily efforts to maintain a safe workplace are truly paying off. To go four years without a safety incident is an extraordinary accomplishment,” said Jennifer Butera, BCGP’s general manager. “Also, I think I can speak on behalf of our employees when I say we are thrilled to be given the chance to support an organization, which makes such a direct impact on the local community.”
