After 26 years, Scrivener Leaving Willimantic (CT) FD

WILLIMANTIC — The fire chief of the Willimantic Fire Department will be retiring at the beginning of March after 26 years of service, including 15 years as chief.

Chief Marc Scrivener first came to the department on February 22, 1999.

“My youngest child (Emme) was just a few months old (born in Oct. 1998),” Scrivener said. “Emme now has a baby boy (my grandson) who was born this past September.”

“It has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve this community for the past 26 years and to serve as fire chief for the Willimantic Fire Department,” Scrivener said in his letter to the town. “As with all things, there comes a time when one must step aside and make space for those coming behind. This is that time for me.”
